My 3-year-old son and I seem barely able to leave the house these days without encountering a kitten - or a whole litter! Over the past couple of months, we have stumbled upon a total of 10 abandoned baby kittens, including 4 who were locked in a kennel.
Having partnered with countless animal welfare organizations over the years, I have always understood we have a pet overpopulation issue in the United States. But living on an island has really driven that point home.
I mean, there are only so many places for unwanted pets to go. And interstate adoptions are hard since they require a flight across the ocean.
My family is currently fostering a trio of kitties we found with help from Volcano Cat Sanctuary. The kitties are darling and helping me realize the hole that has long been in the Beer Paws menu: CAT TREATS!
